Grama sabha

Our students regularly participate in Grama sabha of their Grama Panchayath. It is new experience for the students out side the four walls of class room. They here the problems of common man and also be a part of various developmental activities .Some of our students are members of educational standing committee .





Blood donors directory


The department prepares a directory of blood donors . our students are well aware that donating blood means saving lives.











VERMICOMPOSTING

Vermicomposting and production of vermiwash has been one of the important extension activity of Zoology department . The produced venicompost is distributed to the needy farmers of Kattipparuthi village . The department thus discourage the use of chemical fertilizers and promote the use of nature friendly bio-fertilizers .

The students of the department maintain a fresh water aquarium with wide variety of ornamental fishes .


PLASTIC ERADICATION

As a regular activity the students of Zoology Department remove the plastic garbage in and around the campus.

STUDY SURVEY

As a part of co curricular activities the students of the department are actively involved in various study surveys . Survey on avian fauna , insect fauna , mammalian fauna have already been completed the students have also studied about the biodiversity of the major ponds of Valanchery Panchayath. The department also take care in monitoring the pH of drinking water sources around the campus annually.

CAMPAIGN AGAINST RAINY DISEASES

The department aimed to study the incidence of rainy diseases in the town area of Valanchery. A notice was prepared regarding the precautions of rain born diseases was prepared. Being aware that the mosquitoes are the main cause of spreading these diseases , the department cultured larvicidal fishes in the laboratory .The students distributed the notice in almost 60 houses in the Moochikkal Dweep & Kottaram area and searched for the mosquito breeding sits in those houses . The fishes were distributed in almost 30 houses were mosquito breeding sits were seen
